Does anyone out there in blade lovers land own any TOPS knives? I was thinking about getting either the Ranger's Edge, the Showdown Delta, or the Black Rhino. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have a few and like them , Tuff as hell and great for the money. They are nice people to deal with allso. I have two of the Anaconda's:D

I'm interested to hear how they cut - they look tough as nails, but those shallow sabre grinds make me think they have thick obtuse egdes.

I'm sure the flat ground models are different, but a lot of their line up is .25 inch stock with sabre grinds (or at least that's what it looks like from the pics.)

Comments on cutting performance?

Fairly low, even when compared to knives promoted for heavy work, not fine cutters. Davenport compared a Steel Eagle large model to a much smaller and lighter Steel Heart and found the Steel Heart not only cut much better but actually outchopped the larger knife, there is a massive influence of the grinds primary and secondary. I found the same with the 7" Steel Eagle. They do make full flat ground blades now though, and the edge configuration isn't difficult to adjust by the user, especially on 1095. The handles were as much a concern to me with the ridges along the back, too sharp index finger cutout and overall not very ergonomics.

TOPS Pasayten is a nice reletively thin knife that you would make great kitchen and camp knife. I just saw one for sale some where. I do remember it was a pretty darn good price too! (might not even be high carbon steel)

I've seen the Pasayten too and I thougt it looked like it would be a good cutter. I think they're 154 cm.
