I was thinking about buying this model, any thoughts? I was at dicks sporting goods over the weekend and was looking at the low end vantage model and it looked kind of badly built- but I wouldnt really complain about a knife in the $20 range. But, the avid model looks nice, I dont want the s30v model cause I am a spyderco fan and have quite a few knives in that steel already. Just trying to diversify my taste a bit.

The Vantage line is solid all the way around. Any of them for the price they sell for are really worth a look.

I went with the mid line one, forget it's name, since I liked the wood handles more than the G10 that the top of the line had. I'm not a steel snob and the mid line one has served me very well!

I think you'll be real happen with any of them. If not, Buck will make it right.

I have been really happy and impressed with my Avid. It has stood up to some pretty rough treatment and cleaned up good as new!

I have the Pro, but like the look of the Dymondwood better than G-10. Others have said G-10 gives better grip wet and that may be. The Avid has 13c26 Sanvik which I have heard nothing but good things about. Go for it:thumbup:

I own & carry the Vantage and have come to really like this knife.
My first love is the 110, however the Avid is so easy to use and operate one handed. The steel holds and edge really well and is simple to maintain.
Buck did well with this series!
