I picked up my 562cf on Friday. I actually walked into a very large knife store that carries pretty much any production knife/brand available and to my surprise they had both the 562 and 562cf in stock. I've been on a preorder list since January so I promptly cancelled that order and bought they 562cf that was in my hands even though that purchase included a 9.5% sales tax.
Enough story telling, Onto the topic....
Of course I really find the XM 18 to be a great knife and without it I'm sure the ZT 562cf would not I think the 562 will find its way into my pocket more often than my XM will. I like the choil in the blade of my XM but I find the sharpened length of the 562 to be more useful to me. Overall the blade size (length, heigth, width) of my 562 compared to the handle size is more appealing to the eye especially when the knife is in hand. I like the jimping placed along the frame of my XM and I wish the 562 had it as well. I would have liked to seen the jimping put on the 562 like it was put on the zt 560/561. As far as the blade steel goes, having the cf version with m390 is definitely wayyy more appealing to the eye than the stonewashed blades of the 562 and the production xm's. Past the eye appeal I'm not sure I will be able to tell the difference in the S35VN of the XM or the elmax of the 562.... they all get sharp and hold an edge well in my daily use. I like the ergos and the crisp, but still smooth, detent working with the bearings makes the 562cf operate with a level of smoothness that my XM just doesn't have and the lockup of my 562cf is perfect and couldn't be any more solid. Both the xm and 562 are GREAT blades for my use but "for now" the 562cf will be in my pocket.
