Thoughts or recommendations on a special folder…

I am currently looking for a nice folder to commemorate a special occasion.

I was considering a CRK Umnumzaan, Hinderer XM-18 or a Strider SMF.

So two questions, which of those do you like over the others?
What should I look at instead of those three?

Budget is $800 or less.

I like my Hinderers, never owned the other 2 brands, but one I would put in a similar category as the XM and Strider would be Medford. I’ve been wanting an On Belay for a while now, very expensive tho (for me) and not really sure if it would be as “good” as my Hinderers….
 
I like the spartan harsey folders quite a bit if you're after a heavy built folder. The engraved editions are pretty nice if you can find one. They sold out reasonably quick when I was looking around the start of this year.

The ergos are surprisingly good for an all metal knife.

Anything else specific you want from it or for it to be? Colors? Blade material?

Hard to beat what you've already mentioned frankly. A Medford Praetorian might suit. A customized Spyderco also. And what about Chaves?

I love the harpoon blade shape. Prob anything bronze, but I am open to other colors. I already have 3 Microtech, a Protech, a few bastinellis and spyderco. I don’t use a knife a ton on my days off. This one is gonna be a days off knife. Cool capable and prob gonna have it engraved as a reminder of an important date in my life.

See that is the struggle. Is the grass greener. Lol.
I really don’t need another knife…but I do want something to mark an occasion and I have carried a knife daily for decades. Might as well get something nice to do it. I will look at Medford. Thanks for the info.

Nice, I have actually always wanted a fixed blade of theirs. Never considered their folders. I will check em out.

I don’t think my love for Hinderers is a secret ... so I’m just showing you a couple of his harpoons:

That being said, I just bought a couple of customs that are “Hinderer quality”, you might want to consider that route, too.

Lol, honeslty if anyone had them in stock this might be more of a difficult decision. That Spartan Harsey is really nice too. Just trying to figure out how they compare. Lots of guys like them as well.
 
I have owned all your choices and IMO CRK Sebenza is the best all around folder. You have a pretty decent budget that could permit the purchase of a custom. My favorite customs are Pena, Burger, Laconico . Some may go over budget new, depending on model and configuration, but can be found like new on the exchage for much less . If that is an option.

Cool, always interested in looking at new brands. I have not heard of any of those three. Thanks!

Let’s stick to the Harpoon, that’s pretty easy: there is the Fatty Harpoon Tanto XM18 in my picture above, and then there are Harpoon Spantos, in normal thickness and skinny. And there is the Harpoon Spanto Eklipse. Finally, there is the 3V harpoon Signature series. So you have 5 models to google and see if you like :)

Yeah nearly impossible to find what I like online. I wish I knew if there was gonna be a drop somewhere for the new year.
