But, here's a new one. :D
I wanna see some knives that WEREN'T safe queens.
Whether it's an $8.00 Winchester knife or a $900.00 Hinderer, Let's see some beat-to-hell knives.
15 years of use, or abuse, beat-up is the same here.

I don't have much in the field of beat-up except the Vic. Pioneer I've been working on, so I guess I'll post my machete, cuz that's a bit used. :D

OK, sorry.

Although it doesn't really show it in the pic, this knife has had the snot beat out of it. I had and loved this knife as a teenager and years later bought two. Took one to work and basically tried to kill it. I regularly trimmed plastic strips from parts by hitting it with a plastic hammer, etc.. The knife lasted years till I finally bent the backspring. Took it apart, tapped it back into shape and repinned it. The knife is surely worse for wear but essentially sound. Someday I'll carry it again as a tribute to what these things can take.

I wish I could help ya but in 45 years of carryin' and collectin' knives, I've never abused any, I have knives that show 20 years or more of carry and use but no abused ones.

The closest thing I have is a Schrade 51OT that I carried in the trades, I used to cut the steel bands they strapped stuff to pallets with, I've used it to cut way too many plastic drums and a few steel ones, it has scribe marks I put in the bolster to sharpen a pencil point on, the pivot has a bit too much play so it's retired.

Maybe my EK Model 5 Combat Bowie or my Ontario SP8 Survival Machete as those are both my yard/camp tools, I'll have to post some quick pics up over the weekend.

I don't want the community to think I'm an unrepentant knife abuser. I see myself being pictured in a wife-beater t-shirt whipping poor defenseless knives.

I do have work knives and, being a metal worker, I cut stuff I shouldn't. I also have tools handy to resharpen and reprofile, which I find relaxing.

My favorite knife at work right now is a Schrade 340T which I purchased for a buck or two because the main blade was broken in half. I get the great Schrade steel, but the knife is a beater. (reprofiled the main blade to look good of course)

That Mercator was one I did put through the wringer. I had pinned it so the tip didn't hit the plastic insert (see arrows) and miscalculated on that one. The tip still lightly hit the insert and I wanted to sharpen enough width out of the blade to rectify that. I usually reprofile gradually if I'm going to so's I had to make that blade need sharpening a lot. :)

It's actually a pretty common thing in manufacturing to do certain cutting, usually of plastic, by hitting a knife with a plastic hammer. It gives you a quick, clean cut and it IS the right tool for the job. Usually you sharpen a piece of metal to a wedge or use an old kitchen knife. I used this Mercator so I could gradually re-profile it, and it did a great job. Then it was just kind of seeing what it would take. It was something to do, knife related, and get paid for it. It held up surprisingly long. It would still be going strong if I hadn't hit the joint by mistake a few times and bent the backspring.

At the work station where this is done there is now a (once) nice chef's knife, broken to about 3" long and thus purchased at a yard sale for $.25, and sharpened to a rather obtuse edge.

Swamprat Chopweiler, stripped, polished and convexed by the previous owner, now wailed on by me. She's a room wrecker, a street wrecker... :D

While I don't really beat the hell out of it, my XM is my 'default' EDC blade so it sees plenty of pocket time and use. The stonewash hides scratches very well but at certain angles, you can see the battle scars. The sandblasted ti does show marks more readily though. I dont mind scratches though- it gives the knife a personality.

Here is my most used. Takes one hell of a beating and I will always trust it forever and ever.

The 110 is not mine, it was my Dad's and he used it a lot and resharpened it a lot also, not abused, but well used!
