Every time i click into one of the different forums, all of the threads are in a random order. I then have to click the column for the time twice to get the newest posts on top. On other forum sites i have found a setting to make this my default but on here i cant find it. Am i missing it? I would like to be able to see all the threads with the newest ones on top without having to sort them.

Thanks

At the bottom of the screen in each forum there is a Thread Display Options. I think this is what you're looking for.

The threads in the discussion forums, by default, aren't in random order, they are ordered by the most recent post.

Threads in the Exchange work differently though. Those are ordered by the first post and cannot be changed.

You are missing it, this isn't like every other forum. Within the Exchange, threads are displayed in chronological order (the order in which they are created). Why? Because people refused to follow the simple posting & bumping rules, and felt the need to stay on the front page and everyone else landed on page 4 within a matter of a couple hours. For those that have not figured it out yet, bumping threads in the Exchange was disabled about 2.5-3 years ago or so.

these instructions are only to change the order of individual posts in a thread, see my next post to change the order of threads in a sub-forum
You can set the order permanently that your browser will display them (in all threads) in your settings...

Settings >General settings > 3rd section down called "Thread Display Options" there is a pull-down called "Thread Display Mode", your typical forums are setup using "Linear" and ordered either oldest first or newest first.

*Note the above two links may not work for you, I'm not sure of they're user specific, if they don't work just follow the instructions.

Here is that setting:

Disregard my entire last post, those are instructions to change the order of the posts in a tread, to change the order the threads are listed in you have to do it for each sub-forum down at the bottom like this:

And yes you can change the order in any sub-forum, even the exchange, the forum software sets the default but you can change it (albeit each time you visit) in any forum you want to any order you prefer, you can even set the exchange to list threads by newest post if you want.
