Thread preferences?

I think Chuck's preference is Barbour's linen 5 cord. What brands and specific threads do you people favor for hand stitching leather sheaths? Please state why you like it and, if possible, links to where it can be found or purchased.

Definitely Tiger/Ritza. I've been told that it's pretty difficult to get outside of a guy that imports it and sells on etsy. He does bonuses for referrals. I bought from him using a name from someone here and got some free John James (I think that's what they're called) harness needles and those are excellent too.

Tiger/Ritza (search for all the glowing reviews) is flat and lays down very nicely. It's also perfectly waxed so you don't have to strip wax off.

I'd look at something else if it was a lot cheaper but otherwise I'll stick with this stuff. I've tried a couple of Tandy threads and a couple of no names. They work fine.

Here's the link

Use my name to get free needles (full disclosure- he'll give me free shipping on my next order but I really don't care about that. The needles are nice)
Anthony Alms

For the record, I'm not trying to sell anything, I just think it's the best stuff.

If you don't mind me asking in your thread?

Can anyone comment on the appropriate thread and needles for sewing exotic skin inlays in leather windows? Should I be using waxed thread or something else? What about needle size?

I don't mind. In Paul Long's video he says just call him if you have any questions. 1(830) 367-5536

Are inlays covered in his advanced dvd? I should probably just buy it, I've been meaning to for a while. Don't feel right calling without at least buying his work first. :o

Yes, he covers inlays but he doesn't mention specifics of the thread. There are some things he glosses over in the advanced video because he covers it in the basic video. I don't have the basic video so I don't know if he mentions specifics there.
