I am new to sheath making and saddle stitching. What type/brand of thread does everyone use?

I am having trouble getting my stitches to lay low enough and think it is a combination of the thread thickness (Tandy Tejas waxed), stitch tightness, and overstitch wheel pressure. Thanks for any advice.

I've used the Tejas thread for many years, its decent stuff. :)

As far as the stitches sitting low, do you use a stitching groover? If so you may not be grooving deep enough, if not Tandy carries a nice one for not much money.

Set your stitches firmly, but not too hard, you can actually pull it though the leather though its difficult.

Sometimes I use an overstitch wheel, sometimes I run my bone folder over the stitches to flatten them a bit, and it helps to smooth any leather pucker around the stitches.

Other than that, practice practice practice. :)
