I realized after the fact that I was posting replies to threads in the cooking area that were already 3mo old. I did not find a specific rule forbidding such things there (but maybe I am blind). I wanted to make sure that I was not in violation and to clarify policy on older threads, if such a policy exists that I missed.

Thanks

We have a rule for the Exchange:

THREAD NECROMANCY IS HIGHLY DISCOURAGED. Do not bump threads that are older than 120 days. Send the seller a message instead.

Discussion forums should go by common sense. If he thread is old, and especially if it is very long or has come to a conclusion among the members, it is probably better to start a new thread, perhaps with a link to the older thread. Otherwise, people will be led to read and read and maybe respond to a thread no one was following any more.

I recall now reading that on the exchange and was unsure in discussion. Thank you for your response.

My recommendation:

Start a new thread and put a link to the older thread within along with any comments or questions you may have. Thisway you give the community the option of clicking on the link, rather than forcing them to wade through posts that may not be relevant in the least in order to find your comment.
