Thread size for sewing sheaths

Hi:
I bought a sewing machine this weekend and need to know what size thread to use to sew 8/10 oz. leather. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi:
She has two other machines for sale. One is a Singer and the other is a Champion harness sewing machine. She will probably have two or three others for sale also. I have her phone number at the office and will e-mail it to you tomorrow. I am also chasing another contact who supposedly has several more machines for sale. This are used to be a shoe making area , so there are a lot of machines available so I will post information as I get it.

i think no 6 or 7 will work fine.....look at it before you buy it...I used to use flax thread...or something like that...but my machine got a burr in it somewhere and started fuzzing it out so I switched to nylon..which is much stronger but also twists up into knots if you are very attentive with it.
