Is there a decent tutorial or a wip on how to thread bolsters? Our can anyone explain how they do it?

I've got some ideas, but I'm not sure they'd work. I have a little knife I'd like to try threading on.

I am by no means an expert on this but, I superglued a spacer to the backside of my file guide and used that to keep my jewelers saw properly aligned. The bolsters were attached to the liners and the file guide was clamped to the liner and butted against the edge of the bolster.

Brian I use a Hacksaw blade I've "thinned" down on my surface grinder. Having ground
it thinner also got rid of the set to the teeth and makes it work much better. I'm sure there's a
zillion ways. Hope this helps.

I shape the bolsters leaving them a little thick and thread the bolsters before putting the handle material on. Use a caliper to scribe a line on each bolster using the handle material side of the bolster as a guide. Use a jewelers saw and cut just off the scribe line so you can just see the line. Do the other bolster on that end of the knife but make a very shallow cut. Check this one with calipers and pin the liners together to make sure they are even. If they do not line up grind off the shallow cut and try again. When they line up cut them deeper and thin the bolsters to size.

I use a jewelers' saw for mine. Sometimes I use a graver.
