Threadlocker spill.

I had my Spyderco Karambit in the same bag as a tube of blue threadlocker that I thought was closed properly. It leaked all over the knife to the point where the blade would open, but with great difficulty.

I disassembled it as much as possible, but the threadlocker has glued one of the bronze washers to one side of the handle, and the pivot pin is similarly stuck. Is there a compound or solution that I can use to dissolve the threadlocker, or should I try to wash it off with some kind of soap?

This is one of my favorite knives(I put a pictorial up in this subforum a while ago) so I would appreciate any help.

Acetone should work. It'll take some time for it to penetrate tight spaces such as behind the bronze washer.

Apply the acetone outdoors and avoid breathing fumes.

Don't let the acetone come into contact with grip material, since it is a plastic-eater.

Hope this helps!

I figured the blue stuff will allow you to chisel it off with a few solid hits, as it's not suppose to be perminent.

I use this stuff a lot, and the best way to remove the loctite is to apply heat. I don't know if you want to do this, but most loctite breaks down at 350 degrees F. Good luck.
