I've always wondered about people's philosophies about following threads...
Usually, if someone asks a question on something I'm interested in or know a lot about, I try to chime in with a good, thorough answer, and if the original poster and a few other people reply to that thread and don't quote or mention my post, I just unsubscribe from the thread.
I just assume that my answer was read but wasn't interesting enough to people to render further discussion about what I said, so I just bow out of the thread and unsubsubscibe, unless I'm really interested in how a bunch of other people answered the same question.
Sometimes, I'll see a thread that looks like a good debate and I'll subscribe but not post and watch for a while.
Basically, I don't want a bunch of subscription notices in my email to things I'm not participating in.
