THREADS: To subcribe or not to subscribe

I've always wondered about people's philosophies about following threads...

Usually, if someone asks a question on something I'm interested in or know a lot about, I try to chime in with a good, thorough answer, and if the original poster and a few other people reply to that thread and don't quote or mention my post, I just unsubscribe from the thread.

I just assume that my answer was read but wasn't interesting enough to people to render further discussion about what I said, so I just bow out of the thread and unsubsubscibe, unless I'm really interested in how a bunch of other people answered the same question.

Sometimes, I'll see a thread that looks like a good debate and I'll subscribe but not post and watch for a while.

Basically, I don't want a bunch of subscription notices in my email to things I'm not participating in.

That's how I do it. I've often wondered how others do it.

There are several options available. You can subscribe with instant email notification, with daily updates in email, with weekly updates, or with no email notification -- the thread will still be at the top of your User Control Panel if it has new posts and you won't get bothered with email. That's the way I usually do it....

It pays to bookmark your User Control Panel and go there first when you come to Bladeforums. You can subscribe to just the forums you read so the menu won't be cluttered with other forums, and you'll see new Private Messages and subscribed threads with new posts right there.

Thanks for taking the FUN out of this thread, Fuzzy Face. ;)

I KNOW those options.

Jeez, some people's moderators.;)

Go eat a rat, catnip breath.:D

Sheesh -- is this the gratitude I get for trying to show off that I know cool stuff? :grumpy:

It's rather unlike Mr. fulloflead. I suspect that he may be full of something else at the moment. So, I'd urge you to ignore him.

PUI, don't you know...;)

Sheesh...

How many smileys does it take to get you to know when I'm just razzing you?
(I even used a bunch, just in case.)

Coug, you should know, you're my favorite moderator! I thought I could kid around with you.

Thanks to Gollnick for recognizing that rudeness is not like me.:)

And, yes, I'm quite full of something else.

A little off-topic, but I just upgraded to Office 2007, and the first thing Outlook 2007 asked was if I wanted to import my RSS feeds. Since I subscribe to BF's RSS, I pressed Yes.

The next thing I knew, I had over 300 knife related "emails" in my unread folder

I subscribe to a lot of threads, mostly those with really good info in them. It's easier to find something in my subscriptions folder than to try and find it with the search function, so if I run across something I really like into the subscriptions folder it goes! I'm up to 134 subscriptions right now. (I don't have BF send me any email updates though.) I should really go through and organize 'em all.

How does one unsubscribe a subscription, thread or whatever that damn thing is. I never subscribed to that one anyways? I tried un subscribing, even clicked on the subscribed thread thing, but nothing. Why not just make a great big bright DELETE button for the damn thing.

I understand the principles of vacuum tube technology but computers- nah. I'm just lucky I can type into the fuckin thing. The more I use it the more I hate this machine, wastes time, money, and less work done in the shop.

Maybe this thread will go to W/C

How does one unsubscribe a subscription

Go to your User Control Panel. Subscribed threads with new posts are listed near the top of the page. Click where it says Unsubscribe under the thread title. If you rightclick and open in a new window you can go on with whatever you're doing without interruption and close that window later.

If you want to see the whole list of your subscribed threads including ones that don't have new posts, click on List Subscriptions. Check the box next to all the threads you want to unsubscribe and then choose Delete Subscription at the bottom of the page.

Thanks for the input Cougar. Now it is time to shut this PC down and get the chainsaw going, the wood isn't going to move with this PC on.

Mostly I just subcribe to any knife sale thread that I posted so I can stay on top to those. Oh yes, I subcribe to all Cougar and Fulloflead threads in case they start poking each other with sticks. I get a kick out that.:D

Sharp sticks? Hmm ...
