By aces I mean winners. Seeing all three in the same thread reveals the depth and breadth of Josh's talent much more, I think, than seeing a picture here, a picture there. I failed to get much in the way of details from Josh about these knives, but look closely and the images will reveal most of what we collectors and enthusiasts would want to know, short of actually handling the knives in person.

BTW, here's a second image I made of the folding knife that gives further evidence of the dramatic contrast between those natural colors in the R vs L mammoth ivory scales. Really makes the knife unique.

I'm really impressed with all three of these. I especially like the push dagger followed my the trapper. Thanks for showing, i'm glad Josh is still working!

I love the bowie, the handle on it is amazing, it looks like it would be very complicated to put that thing together. Any idea what the scales are made of as they are quite possibly the most attractive I've ever seen. I'm guessing a mammoth or ivory of some sort. Thank you for introducing me to his work. I'm adding him to my list of guys who's work I love but will never afford. :)

EVERY one of them is exceptionally nice! I'm also impressed and glad to see Josh putting out some fantastic work.

The engraving on the trapper suits it perfectly(Steve Dunn?), and that would have to be my favorite.

Thanks for showing them Buddy.

Josh is a very talented knife maker as demonstrated by these pieces. Thanks for sharing these fine images.

First I would like to thank Buddy for the outstanding photographs. I am amazed by your talent Buddy and again thank you!

Also thank you to everyone for the compliments. I really appreciate it. Here are a few details.

The bowie has Fossil mammoth ivory on the handle along with 18k gold domed pins. The fittings heat blued mild steel and stainless steel liners. This knife also will have a Paul Long sheath which Paul is working on now.

The trapper also has fossil mammoth ivory scales. To be honest I was quite surprised that the ivory changed in the way that it did. The bark on the outside was rough and nearly identical. But as I ground in and polished the color changed quite a bit, which can happen with ivory. The color was extremely deep in this ivory and was in layers. Had I continued to grind the ivory would have continued to change. This ivory made for an interesting look. Steve Dunn did a fantastic job of engraving and gold inlay as well. Paul Long is working on a pouch for this knife as well. I also have to thank Bill Ruple for his help and instruction on this trapper. Bill is the man!

The push dagger is self explanatory. It has mother of pearl scales with carved blacklip overlaid. This knife has some interesting carving and in the blade which gave it a different look. I was quite happy with all three of these knives.

Again thanks for the comments. I appreciate it!

Three great looking knives and Buddy captured them superbly. Of these three the bowie is my favorite, love the handle!!

3 winners for sure. I can't have push daggers wher I live, bu that one is just achingly beautiful. Once my existing orders are clear, a Searles bowie by Josh is high on my wish list.

Great to see a trio from Josh. Tremendous images, Buddy. Love the ivory contrast of the folder.

Dayum.

Impressive, indeed.

All tree are very nice, but that multiblade slipjoint is the star of the show for me!

Kind regards,

Jos

I'll echo everyone else and say that they're all fantastic, but the lines and proportions of that saddlehorn trapper are amazing. I could look at it for an hour.

yes Roger, unfortunately we have the same problems on our side of the border eh? The Bowie looks terrific and is just emphasized by the wonderful handle and work done on it. Nice job for sure Josh!!

Great pics of Josh's masterful work, Buddy !
They weren't posted but his dogbones just kill me.

Doug

Marcel,

You killed me. :)
Thank you, that is the one I was referring to.
There was another 2 knife, bowie and dagger set in walrus ivory, I think.

Good thread showcasing Josh's amazing diversity.
