Anyone have any suggestions on how I should fill/repair the handle?

Thanks PeteG. Im really excited about getting such a good deal. Hopefully I can fix the handle well enough with my poor woodworking skills...

I think I sharked Terisha's first TBB on the DOTD offering here... I hope this means good Karma's coming my way... I sure know I have a WWII coming my way soon that I cannot wait to get out and play with this weekend... Wow, these are addicting...

You know, one way might be to sort of just incorporate the nick into the pommel. Note sure how well that would work. You could even go so far as to create uniform "gouges" around the pommel...maybe 4 or 5 depending on the orientation of the existing one, giving the pommel sort of a star shape. May or may not be more work that filling.

Filling can be accomplished with may products and blended.

After the knife arrives, perhaps you can post some clear closeup photos showing the damage. You'll probably get more specific advice on repairs.

The good news is that all the damage seems to be at the very end of the handle, so no matter how you fix it you've got an amazing deal at $55. That barely covers the value of the scabbard and two small blades.

From the blurry closeups above, it looks like the pommel is separated at one side and dented at the other side, with either a dent in the wood or maybe a piece knocked off. Can't tell if the pommel is loose as well as separated. Each of these problems is fixable, one way or another. HoosierQ has a good idea about the dent, but it's hard to tell without clearer photos.
