Nice, Gehazi. I just messaged you about the Salyan but I forgot you already had one!

I was real active here in 2012 but am cutting back on buying Khukuris this year since I am running out of room to store them.

well im glad to see both of you! HI needs us to find more roooom, i dont know why i feel like i just cant have enough khukuri !

There was a different group of sharks encircling the DOTD water last year, and by the end of the year the feeding frenzy had tailed of. Personally to keep on buying HI products that rate I did, I would need to build an armory to store them or raise a small Gurkha army to put them to good use. Obviously both of those options were not feasible so I went back to collecting smaller knives and folders. I will still jump in once a while to snatch up an unique model like the Salyan offering today. It's good to remaining a little hungry from sharking.
I am glad that a new group of sharks (like you Gehazi) that is equally infected by HIKV has picked up the torch.

Eventually each person runs out of space or money, or collects one of everything. Or moves on to another obsession.

That "one of everything," though, can add up. If you collect about 15 common models, say 3 different sizes, chiruwa and non-chiruwa handle types, wood and horn handles, that's already 15x3x2x2 = 180 knives.

Then there are the swords, the karambits, kardas and other small knives, the non-standard models, and the unusual designs that Rajkumar comes up with, and let's not forget Special Orders.

The good thing is, you could collect all of the above for less money than a rare car collector might spend on one automobile.

exactly david--- I have collected guns pretty extensively and its a very expensive habit, and for the same price as a good gun I can get 6 or 7 HI khukuri which have loads more personal character and soul than any gun ever could really ( unless that gun was hand forged)

so I still love my guns, but I am definitely a permanent knife convert

"which have loads more personal character and soul than any gun ever could really"

That's a bold statement right there. Guns are my first love but HI knives are a very close 2nd.
