Three e-mails unanswered to Chestnut Ridge, so I'll ask here...

Chestnut Ridge Knife Shop offers kydex sheaths for the BK7 and BK9. As I have the older Camillus versions, which I believe are a different blade thickness, I'm trying to determine if the Camillus versions aren't too thick to fit, or too thin and will rattle.

Also, if anyone owns one of their sheaths. can the belt loop be removed and replaced with a different attachment method? I see different sheaths on their site with different attachments.

I've sent three e-mails over the course of a couple of months, with no response, and I've checked my junk mail and spam folders. Not really giving me a warm fuzzy for the company.

I bought one knife from them and it will be the last.

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your question, but I do know that the Becker forum has several excellent sheathmakers who are dedicated Becker aficionados and reliable communicators. I suggest you request that one of the mods move this thread to the Becker forum, and hopefully you will get a sheath from one of the trustworthy local boys.

Thanks, folks - azwelke has been recommended to me in the BK&T forum, and his work looks pretty impressive.

Dunno about fitting the Camillus blades (though I'd bet they would work just fine) but the belt loop comes right off. I've got the BK9 model and my son has the BK7 and both of us bagged the belt loops early on in favor of TekLoks. Those work just fine.

One other mod to that sheath you may want to consider - the top of the sheath is a bit aggressive where it covers the handle - we both trimmed that back a good bit with no ill effects whatsoever on retention.

check the GBU on chestnut.

i don't have a ... chestnut to roast, but there have been... comments.

we've got several good sheath makes on the Becker side, check them out.

AZWelke is good. Heavy duty, nicely finished sheaths. They don't scratch the blade as far as I can tell. Versatile.

I'm a fan, needless to say.
