Howdy folks. This is my first post in the Gallery since I purchased my knifemaker membership. One of these is a standard model, and the other two are one-off variations.

First, a Spicewood Special in D2 steel at 60 RC with a 400 grit hand finish. Handle is bocote with dovetailed stabilized amboyna bolsters and red liners. OAL is 7 3/4, blade is 3 1/16. Sheath pictured is my work as well.

Second, a one-off similar to the Spicewood but with a different handle contour. Steel is D2, 400 grit hand finish. Bolster is mesquite, dovetailed, with a stabilized spalted hackberry handle. I cut the hackberry from a stump in my parents' back yard in Round Rock, Tx and had it stabilzed by Faron Moore. OAL is 7 3/8, blade is 2 7/8. Sheath is pictured.

Third, another one-off similar to the Spicewood, but with no choil. The steel is 1080 carbon steel, RC 60, 400 grit hand finish. The bolsters and pins are nickel silver. The handles are dovetailed ram horn. OAL is 7 1/8, blade is 2 3/4. Sheath is pictured.

Thanks for looking. These are out to my mailing list now and may end up in the Exchange if the list guys don't snap them up.

Very nice knives!

Is there a tutorial anywhere or WIP showing how to properly dovetail those bolsters (both metal and wood)? I'd really like to try that sometime.
