Three Good Things to fight HIKV

Greetings all,

You may have heard of good things coming in threes. Well, that is precisely what happened to me today.

I received :

- 3 silver khukuri tie clasps(one for myself and rest for family)

- the Snow Leopard Millennium Special Khukuri... YUMMY!!! For those who would like to see pix and spex here is the URL:
http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum26/HTML/001096.html

- another heavy duty utility khukuri...it is about 21 inches long, exceptionally well balanced(got to weigh this babe... can't believe how light it feels), blade is broader than an Ang Khola blade - it is 3 inches wide, hardly any angle to the spine so I think it could be called a forward curving khukuri with some truth. Definitely a H.I. khukuri as it has Uncle Bill's smiling face engraved on it.

CORRECTION! The above khukuri is the Ganga Ram Special which I had ordered back in September....Boy, is Ganga Ram going to kick my butt over calling his GRS a utility forward curving khukuri!!!

Thank you Uncle Bill very much for having mercy upon this HIKV sufferer and may you continue to have exceptionally great karma on your trip and return home.

I'm happy for you, Harry. And jealous! I know the Snow Leopard MS has got to be beautiful, but the utility khuk sounds especially nice. In fact, from the way you describe it, it sounds as if I might have to get Uncle Bill to keep an eye out for one like it -- I'm rather partial to the forward curving style. In the meantime, Harry, if you decide to part with that nice utility khuk, let me know -- I'll swap you my first born for it.

Steven,

Boy or girl? How old? Potty trained? Well educated? My preference would be for the girl.

Sorry, I had to have a bit of fun with this and my belated apologies to your first born.

I think I'll keep this khukuri for the time being...

Harry, a question just popped into my little brain -- how is it you just received your goodies when Uncle Bill has been gone for a while and no one else is minding the store? Did it just take that long to get to you, or was it shipped directly to you from Nepal? Or, third possibility, do you have special connections we don't know about?

P.S. The swap for the first born wouldn't have worked anyway. He's grown and recently enough married to where his wife isn't yet ready to give him up. But, hey, I had to try.

Steven,

I would have to say that it is the unpredictable postal system between Canada and the US. The Snow Leopard MS was mailed on January 18. The utility forward curving khukuri was mailed January 25. The silver khukuri tie clasps were mailed on January 26 or 27. So, as you can see, there is no predicting when things will show up. I have had some items show a week after Uncle Bill has sent them and other items have taken one month. My karma must be very good as I have yet to have any orders go missing.

Harry

Harry, if you read the Dr. Gyi thread you will know why I'm not commenting on the postal service since the Channel 8 newscast Monday night.

Roger on that, Rusty.

As for the "utility forward curving khukuri", as you see, I have corrected my initial posting and I doubt that Ganga Ram or this forum will ever let me forget this embarrassing moment. Dang it, I thought this was another HI big utility khuk that some visiting kami had made.

I have to state that this is one superb magical khukuri I am proud to have. Sheesh, I bet Ganga Ram will get one of the best laughs he has had in a long time and I will join him in that laugh.

If it were me, and I was holding the grs, I would apologize to the magical kukhri. Take a look at some of the old threads...

Harry, your mistake was actually understandable. As I've posted elsewhere, the newer Ganga Rams are very different from the original ones in that they lack all special carving and engraving. The only thing that suggests that they're GRs is the curve of the blade. I've talked to Uncle Bill about this and he has said that Ganga Ram is probably getting help nowadays, so the newer Ganga Rams are not done completely by him. I, also, have a newer one and I can see how you made the mistake you did.

Actually Matt, that was how I eventually identified the "mystery" khukuri, by searching the old threads after getting some initial measurments down for data. I'm still kicking myself for not doing it earlier, but even then, if I still were in the dark as to the actual identity of this khuk, would still admire it as a very well done, highly desireable khukuri. Goodness knows how I would have felt if I had actually consumated a trade with Steven F. He would have had one hell of a bargain.

And on that note, I remain,

Harry
