Fortune smiled on me as i was presented the opportunity to buy a '10 Moose, having gifted away the one that i bought, i wasnt gonna pass up the opportunity. A big thank you to that gracious person

The knife is beautiful and a real handful, pretty heavy with surprisingly thick blades and backsprings (blades almost as wide as a buck 110), Walk and Talk is stout, the talk is more of a shout really! After some oiling and using the action has improved dramatically. It came functional sharp not as sharp as my Case knives but usable. Fit and finish is excellent, not quite Schatt level but very good.

Mine is pictured with a couple of my pre WW2 4 line Camillus Ebony knives, both have steel liners and the gimp shield... The Moose fits in perfectly 'cept that its still shiny. The 2010 forum knife has quite the classic look...
Been carrying it daily for a few weeks, i promised the seller patina shots i will post those later! As its getting them patina blues...

So if any of you are using and carrying your forum knife post 'em in here...
cheers

And my other Ebony handled knife -- a Northwoods Railsplitter Moose

Nice pictures and cool knives! Just goes to show what a wonderful scale material ebony is. The pre WW2 scales look just as nice.

I'm a sucker for dark woods and those are nice! Knives dressed in ebony just have that classic look instantly.

That Northwoods is nice Ed. I like the extra pin. An extra pin on the 10 Moose would have put it over the top I think.
Great pics everyone. Ebony is best.

Nice knives!

If you like Ebony, then heads up on the new Schatt & Morgan "Heritage Series".
All three are available in Ebony.

If the ebony is as good as our 2010 knife then they will be good!

but cmon! more of you guys have to be using your moose;)
Beautiful picts Modoc and Defaulthauser!

Actually i initially thought of just keeping it a safe queen, but my common sense got the best of me and well been carrying it a couple weeks now!
will try and shoot some patina picts, develops alot different than Case CV.
The moose is getting the Blue/Rainbow kinda look on it while the case just turns a pretty even gray.
Nice EDC though...

Nice idea for a thread, Gene. Workin' on that patina takes time though - be patient!

Cutting up a pineapple, some oranges, apples and strawberries, and other fruits, will get a good patina going on 1095 blades.
Letting the juice sit on them sorta helps also!
It won't replace my good kitchen knives, which were born and bred for the purpose, but it's hefty size makes it better for the purpose than its smaller bretheren.

Among other chores, I easily and smoothly broke down a pile of cardboard boxes today also. The only sharpening has been one short session on an eze-lap hone, after the fruit salad about a week ago.
I only carried it one day - all of today, but it sits by the back door in the kitchen, ready to go anywhere on the premises.
Speaking of bretheren, here it is with with some Ebony-clad forbearers, from the bottom;
A well-used Miller Brothers, and an equally venerable NYK (pre-Hammer Brand) - both HJs. Next up is our favorite Son in all its Ebony and greying glory!:D

Up top is nice old Uncle Wilbert, dapper as ever, with a whiff of the future about him!;)
Seems he's dreaming of a new set of clothes!!

I had the camera out tonight so I thought I would snap a pic for you. The blades are starting to patina a little bit.

I have to admit, I haven't used mine yet. The blades are too long for EDC in Japan (The law changed a couple of years ago), so I have to wait until I'm camping/fishing/hiking etc before I can legally carry it.

Great showing folks. Seems to me ebony and NS has a simply stated regal look to it. I'm especially loving that EZ open posted by Waynorth. Do wish I'd been around to have gotten in on the last forum knife.

You're not making it any easier for me Gene. I've set aside my 2010 knife for my daughter for when she gets older (she was born last year). I don't know what I was thinking, I should've bought two.
