Three knives that handle your daily routine

This is a subjective thing, everybody's life is different. It's about how you solve your problems with knives from day to day.

While I'm a regular user of a knife, I doubt my personal pattern is the same as most others. When it's nice out, I have a large fixed blade knife I use for clearing debris on my whopping acre. Most of the land is unusable but looks pretty. I'm out there hacking up small trees that fall in high winds but are too small to be useful as firewood. Maybe I could burn the wood in the fireplace for ambiance, but it's not like I'm going to heat my house with that junk. For that I have a Svord Von Tempsky bowie. It hits as hard as any one-hand axe and has more blade, so I think it's easier to use for that kind of thing. This is my least-used regular knife.

For my second knife, I have a Leatherman Micra keychain tool. I have gotten a lot of mileage out of it, especially when paired with a Gerber Shard. I get 98% of my daily tasks accomplished with those two items. I changed out the speakers in my car with those. I'm going to count those two items as one because they're both keychain tools and they complement each other so well.

Finally, the single blade folder. I must have gone through fifteen of them before I found a few pieces that fit this category well. One is and Opinel #6 or #8, depending on which one is sharper at the time and what my purpose is for those items. Sometimes I carry a Joe Pardue Utilitac II (which is new to me). This is my least used knife and therefore the least important one for my circumstances. What do I really need it for? My work does not involve cutting anything, and it is considered a hazard to have anything that can be considered a weapon in the course of doing business. I do not want to have anything on my person that could be taken away from me and be used against me.

Outside of work, I can have any kind of tools I care to keep handy. I could use the large fixed blade or the micra for many tasks around the house, but a flipper is handy. I'm not a bushcraft guy unless you count loading up a wood stove in the winter. For that purpose, I could use any of my knives to make life easier. Feather sticks, breaking down boxes, whatever. The micra is not the tool for that task, and the Bowie isn't either. A box cutter would suffice for most of it, but a flipper would too.

To wrap it up, here are my three.

Leatherman Micra plus Gerber Shard
Utilitac II
Von Tempsky Bowie

That said, the lineup could change at any time due to circumstances. Three really isn't enough, maybe this list is just for three concurrent knives that span the utility spectrum.

kissing crane copperhead slipjoint stays with me at all times for slicing and delicate procedures.

kabar 1271 black fighter has become my go to outdoor knife. didn't use anything for heat this year except wood/wood stove, so I'm outside constantly. now I'm going to be outside more dealing with wood in general because I have to move stacks of wood around. it gets used a few days a week I'd say, sometimes I don't take it outside with me and just go with whatever is on rotation.

rotation of knives for my go to pocket knife. at the moment it's a Kershaw blur s30v, tomorrow it may be a benchmade, or $10 convenience store auto.

If I had to pick 3 knives it be a good kitchen paring knife of some type for well kitchen duty, don't know much about kitchen cutlery so lets just leave it at that. Than a Vic Recruit or Compact would be my second choice for EDC. This leaves me a 3rd knife which I don't really use on a daily basis so lets just throw in a bread knife.

What I use though is well a kitchen knife and usually a wenger patriot/kershaw skyline/rough rider canoe for edc on a daily basis.

I like to mix it up, but in general, they'd fall into these three categories (no need for fixed blades or outdoors stuff here).

Keychain knife: Rexford RUT, Leatherman Squirt S4, or Victorinox Alox Cadet
Small Folder for weekdays: Small Sebenza Micarta Insingo/Drop Point, Benchmade Mini Grip + Wilkins BMGs, or Strider SJ75s
Large folder for weekends: Chris Reeve Umnumzaan, Microtech Socom Delta Tanto, or Les George VECP

But if I were to narrow it down to the ones, I carry most often:
1. Leatherman Squirt
2. CRK Small Sebenza Insingo
3. CRK Umnumzaan

Case 45 scout/camper on my keys
ZT301 clipped on my pocket
Cold Steel Smatchet in my truck tool box

Delica ZDP189 ( do all small & medium jobs plus.!*)
CRK Umnumzaan (medium to heavy jobs plus )
LJChapman Custom Machette ~~ ( the heavy & "real bad stuff" )

I moved to the Country & never know what I am going to need from one day to the next so I go prepared for anything
that comes along.** Love the Country & put up with going to Town only as a have to situation.!^^

I carry a Victorinox Super Tinker every day and use its various tools on a regular basis.

I pair that with a folder of some kind, most regularly at the moment a Benchmade 551 Griptillian, but can also be a Rat-1, ZT550 or ESEE Zancudo.

When I am out bush it will depend on what I'm doing. If hunting I'll carry a Becker BK-15 or Buck Vanguard. If it's general camp duties then a Scrapyard 511 or custom handled Fallkniven F1.

These handle what I need from an edc pocket knife. Opening packages, some for use when out and about, string, rope, and twine, hot dog sticks for the grandkids, and whatever else comes up. The Case peanut has Devon Thomas damascus blades, cuts very well and holds an edge great. The GEC number 15 is 1095 with ebony scales, gets wicked sharp and stays that way for a good bit, and the Sardinian Resolza is made by Senior Osai and son's, with Sandvick 12C27, and some nice almost translucent horn. Very light in the pocket and slices like a laser.
