Earlier, David Martin sent me an e-mail asking if I had any older 112's and I replied that I didn't have any prior to the date stamps. I was wrong. I found this one awhile ago in my stuff. It looks like used, but it isn't. There's a lot of patina, but other than that, it's just like it came from the factory.

The paper work that came with it says "The knife is a Fourth Version which had no variations. It was manufactured in 1973 or early 1974. The blade is 440C and the handle material is Macassar Ebony".
Does that look to be correct? Another cool thing is the price sticker on the bottom of the box that says $13.45.

Dave, Here is the information from the 112 data sheet:

Category II, Stamped BUCK, 112, U.S.A. 1972

Version 1. Left hand stamp, stainless spring holder, black micarta inlays, two brass inlay rivets and stainless rocker rivet.

Version 2. Same as above except inlays are Segua wood.

Version 3. Same as above except inlays are Macasar Ebony wood

I belive your's is a version 3.

300, Yes, your correct 3 & 4 are reversed . Plus, I had not seen a 3 line 112 with black micarta !! I actually thought those were 2 liners and the 3 liners went straight to the segua wood model, later macassar ebony . So, 1972 had two and 1973 had 3 different models . Then the two dots started in 1974 .
Thanks guys, good info. and I agree with HK . Handsome knife Plumber . DM

Those are all sweet lookers-thanks for sharing. 300, very clever cutout:thumbup: Hope you find that missing link.

As time goes on we will find more 'factory' oddball/variant 112's....I'm looking!
