I made a rare trip into Wallyworld today and picked up two of the 110's in tin boxes for $23.95 each. I'll give them to my brothers-in-law. Believe it or not, these are the first Buck knives I've bought out of a store since 1972. All the rest I own have been purchased over the internet or through a private sale. :)

While I was in there I decided to pick up one of the Chinese Buck 373's for myself more out of curiosity than anything else. It cost $14.95. I was impressed by the the quality workmanship on the 373. It's not a bad little knife and allows me to carry a knife in my pocket on occasions when I normally couldn't.

I bought a 373 last week myself, I have to say that it's pretty nice. $14.95 and 440C steel!

TLC,

I was looking at the 373's at Walmart and the packaging said 420 steel. I was under the impression they were 440C, but I guess not. Maybe they have changed steels recently.

I've looked all over Buckknives.com and can't find any 373 Trio anywhere. The Search engine is still busted, and even looking individually doesn't turn up any results. Maybe discontinued already???

But retailers list it as -

Features clip, sheepfoot, and pen blades of 440C steel and a 3.25 in. woodgrain handle. made by Buck

Same thing here. The display says one thing, the packaging says another.

Someone in the gerneral forum said the samething last week, apparently some of the packaging was mis-labeled. The one I boght and the 30+ others at my local Wal-Mart all said "440C". And my knife is 440C.

C.J. Buck in this older post siad they were 440C as well.

I wish someone from Buck could stop in and answer for sure if they have changed steel or if the packaging was in error??
