Today I've finally got onboard my three new khukris.
The 1st one is a steel mounted 16 WWII by Kesar.

I really like this knife big time. The blade is the a perfect HI mirror finish with well radiused cho and clean sword of shiva, very wel fitted steel habaki bolster, steel buttcap not as good as the bolster, the wooden handle is very nice and so is the scabbard (ordered without a chape), karda+chakma are o.k.. All together is a very handsome knife. I really like it, even though is not exactly what I expected. The knife feels very quick in the hand. I thought a WWII would have been, more or less, like a slightly lighter and more agile version of an AK (I have a 14 AK by Sher). This is instead a totally different story, the whole knife feels more like a weapon than anything else. Also even though is a good 11 mm thick at the spine it feels very much lighter than any other HI khuk that I have (except the 18 Kobra).
The 2nd one is a 16 UBE by Sanu. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1200548&a=9618211&p=45433020
The whole rig is Sanu standard. The Karda looks like a small skinner blade and it came almost razor sharp. The spine is 14 mm thick; this knife falls into the meat tenderizers class together with my 14 AK by Sher, the unmarked Gelbu special and the HI Bird & Trout. The fit and finish of this big knife are excellent. The handle is definitely for big hands, for my 7 by 4 hands is quite too much. I plan to file it to a smaller size. It is a very intimidating blade, the upswept blade tip reminds me somehow of a charging rhino.
The third one is a 15 ½ tourist Sirupati, present of one of my security guards. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1200548&a=9618211&p=45433016
The finish of the blade is the usual mess with major grind marks all over. I like the close cho of this knife and the horn handle. The brass bolster has been fitted quite properly and it is like an habaki bolster not grown to its full size. Even though is not HI it is a pretty knife, scabbard+karda+chakma are totally useless.
As Im bound to Europe I will not be getting new khuks for a while, nevertheless I will keep visiting the cantina looking for pix and interesting stories.
