You guy's are killing me. While I was away I found a bass pro shop and came home with a sodbuster jr in cv. I come home and check the forums again and with all this talk about chestnut cv swaybacks I get interested in it again. So I placed an order last night for the chestnut cv swayback but the order seemed too small ( only one knife...you know the feeling lol) so of course I had to order the other one I wanted, amber bone texas jack in cv to match my large stockman and a sodbuster american workman ( I justified the second sodbuster by telling myself I bought it for work). Now I just need to start saving up for a canal street 4" serpentine jack. I wasn't this addicted with tac folders, what the hell happened?

Pics will follow when the order arrives.

You've given yourself over to the Folksy Side--the Emperor will be pleeeaased!

Nice choices. Bass Pro Shop is nice just because they have so many of the Case knife right there (Not many knife shops in my area).

Well, you've moved over to the "light" side after being in the "dark" side with those "black knives" as I call them. Don't worry, I've been there too. What brought me back was that the tactical knives just keep getting more and more bizarre. Traditionals you have a huge variety within a pattern type/style. It just leads to a bigger and more satisfying addiction in my mind.

Those knives are very nice. You have good taste.

Got the sod buster in my pocket right now. Impatiently waiting on the other three...and yes I do realize I ordered last night.

I think the fact that I always weekend carry a small fixed blade(custom graham brothers pocket kukri) it has given me the freedom to carry more knives I want to carry as opposed to feeling the need to carry a larger tac knife depending on what my plans are. So it has now opened up this whole new world of knives to me. I am choosing my folders based on what feels good for that day instead of what I feel I might need. I don't know if this is making any sense to anybody but me lol.

Before the soddie the latest purchase was a laguiole. A knife I had always wanted but never would have carried if it was my only blade going with me. Went to the wineries 2 weeks ago put the standard weekend carry(pocket kukri) in my right pocket and the folder was a no brainer...the laguiole went to the wineries for the day.

Here's the sodbuster jr in cv, I will post pics of the others when I get a chance.

You picked some nice ones ... I carried my Sobuster CV in my back pocket next to my wallet and my Chestnut Swayback CV in my front pocket today. They make a very nice combo.

Great choice of knives coming. I hope they come soon. Waiting on new knives to arrive is worse than waiting for Christmas. The Texas Jack is one of my favorites as well. I am sure you will love it as well. I look forward to seeing some pictures.

Pics are coming soon. I am a horrible photographer but every once in awhile I take a decent picture. The soddie didn't come out too bad ( I think...lol).

The other three just showed up... that was some fast shipping I'm impressed!

Unboxing them right now:

sodbuster american workman: Overall tight appearance, no play, blade centered, shaving sharp, opening and closing snap seems a little slow (probably needs a touch of oil or tough glide). Love the blue scales!

amber bone texas jack cv: Overall tight appearance, no play on either blade, both blades centered, shaving sharp, could also use a touch of oil, spring on main blade slightly less than flush on open ( I am very anal about these things and it is so slight it won't bother me), will compliment my large amber bone stockman in cv for a 2 knife carry day.

chestnut bone swayback jack cv: Overall tight appearance, no play on either blade, secondary blade centered, main blade very slightly off center but not enough to bother me, everything flush in all positions. f&f is very very good. half stops are excellent. main blade shaving sharp, secondary blade will definitely cut but probably could use a very slight touch up.

This not a review, more or less my overall impressions... I am very pleased with all three. I would have too say they all will fit perfectly with the intentions I bought them for, with my favorite right now being the texas jack.

One thing I have noticed with traditionals as opposed to tac folders is that you get so much more value for your dollar. The attention to detail and the amount of effort in handcrafting goes a long way. I may be wrong but I hold one of these knives in my hand and I get the feeling that someone held this knife in their hand and looked at it with pride before they sent it out. I never get that feeling with tac folders and I have a couple of high end pieces. There is way more satisfaction in purchasing traditionals. Then again I am some what new to traditionls(about a year now), so my thoughts on the subject could be way off...lol. Pics in the next post.

Very nice knives. And nice pics too. You did great with your photography.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I took the cs trapper out of my pocket for awhile and carried the texas jack, it sort of disappears in the pocket. I only noticed it when it dropped and turned horizontal (not really uncomfortable in that position). I just tried it horizontal in the watch pocket of my lee carpenters and it fits perfect, I am guessing the swayback will fit even better in there.
