Unboxing them right now:
sodbuster american workman: Overall tight appearance, no play, blade centered, shaving sharp, opening and closing snap seems a little slow (probably needs a touch of oil or tough glide). Love the blue scales!
amber bone texas jack cv: Overall tight appearance, no play on either blade, both blades centered, shaving sharp, could also use a touch of oil, spring on main blade slightly less than flush on open ( I am very anal about these things and it is so slight it won't bother me), will compliment my large amber bone stockman in cv for a 2 knife carry day.
chestnut bone swayback jack cv: Overall tight appearance, no play on either blade, secondary blade centered, main blade very slightly off center but not enough to bother me, everything flush in all positions. f&f is very very good. half stops are excellent. main blade shaving sharp, secondary blade will definitely cut but probably could use a very slight touch up.
This not a review, more or less my overall impressions... I am very pleased with all three. I would have too say they all will fit perfectly with the intentions I bought them for, with my favorite right now being the texas jack.
One thing I have noticed with traditionals as opposed to tac folders is that you get so much more value for your dollar. The attention to detail and the amount of effort in handcrafting goes a long way. I may be wrong but I hold one of these knives in my hand and I get the feeling that someone held this knife in their hand and looked at it with pride before they sent it out. I never get that feeling with tac folders and I have a couple of high end pieces. There is way more satisfaction in purchasing traditionals. Then again I am some what new to traditionls(about a year now), so my thoughts on the subject could be way off...lol. Pics in the next post.
