I flew to Portland Oregon last week to visit my youngest son and together we made a trip to Bend. I had contacted Jim Allen at Three Sisters Forge and arranged to meet with him to check out his knives. Jim graciously invited us out to his home to see where he does the assembly and final finishing on his knives. I was interested in the BEAST, a titanium frame-lock folder with M390 blade steel. He was finishing up an order of five for one of his customers and those were the only ones he had at his shop. A bit disappointed, I had envisioned getting one for my collection. He then offered me a "used" one... he had finished it the day before and had carried it for one day. I readily accepted his offer and clipped it into my pocket... replacing the small Sebenza I was carrying. The BEAST is definitely a heavy duty folder, one that should last forever. Rock solid lock-up, easy one hand open & closing, great grip and a perfect size for me... just slightly larger than a small Sebenza. Jim also gave my son and I, T-shirts with his Three Sisters Forge logo on them.

As it turns out, Jim lived about 1/2 mile from me up until he moved away from Rochester 13 years ago, went to the same high school as my wife (4 years apart), and his kids went to the same elementary school as my kids... small world, eh?

If you're looking for a great pocket knife from a great guy... look into Three Sisters Forge.

Really great story. And .... you are right about Jim and his knives! I have one of his Beast spear points ... actually, it was from one of the first batch of spear points he made. It's an overall fantastic knife and every bit a quality piece. I consider it to be what an extreme duty Sebenza would be like. It carries well, opens with ease and is flawless in terms of fit and finish. While you were there, I hope you got to experience a view of the Three Sisters from his back deck!!! Have only seen that view in a photo .... but was outstanding!! Congrats!!!

Congrats on your new knife and trip !
+1 on jims work and service , i got in on the first batch of spear points too ,
and he had just changed over to ikbs system. I keep mine close at hand , great knife !

I'm a little confused...

When I saw this thread, I was expecting to see a knifemaker in Canmore, where the Three Sisters mountain peaks are located.

Oregon is a little south of that ;)

Jim can see a pretty nice view of the Three Sisters from his deck and shop.

I got a Beast for Christmas and it is the only knife that has knocked the Sebenza out of my pocket. It is highly recommended!!
