Hello everyone,

While rearranging the composition on some illistrations I made of
Tim Hancock's knives "way back" in 2002, I ended up with one of
them that I really liked.

Here it is. Enjoy.....

Always incredible. Thanks for repeating the work. As always, a very visually-alluring image.

Well, this post just threw a cloud over every other bowie shown today.... ;)

Thanks, Coop! Coming from you, it means a lot to me.

Actually this page was created from three separate pictures done by
Eric Eggly of PointSeven Inc., where each picture had one knife lying
next to its sheath.

I really enjoy the challenge of choosing knives from different pictures
and combining them into an eye pleasing illustration. My advantage,
lucky for me, over many other professional photographers and designers
is that I can afford the time I spend doing this, and also enjoy every
second of this time consuming process......

Outstanding knives, beautifully displayed. I like the way the sheaths seem to visually rotate and cascade downward as a backdrop to the rigid angles maintained by the knives. Good stuff.

It might sound weird but i sometimes get the feeling that the knife looks a CGI instead of a real knife.
Because the knife and background is so perfect, and with the absence of reference points i sometimes can't make out the dimensions of the knife, and it starts to look "fake".

Is this something i only feel ?

Well, about the knives not looking realistic.... I can understand that when
looking at the small, low resolution picture on the Forum. In high quality
full page size print the knives look very realistic... They are always placed
together on the page in their correct relative sizes.

Here is the caption that goes with this illutration:

From the top:
"Studded Dagger", 2001
This dagger sports Tim Hancock's high-contrast Damascus a sculpted
guard, five-piece spacer, a three-piece finial and clean walrus ivory decorated
with a myriad of domed German silver pins. The sheath is formed leather
with German silver tip and throat with Damascus trim. Winner of "Best
Damascus" at Blade Show West 2001. Overall length 12" (305 mm).
"Straight-Back Dog Bone", 2001
The domed buttons hold the handle together with peened pins. The
sheath is formed leather with German silver tip and throat and
Damascus button and point. Overall length 15" (381 mm).
In Tim’s words: "The Dog Bone Bowie has been one of my favorite
styles of all time. This one is Damascus all the way, the blade, fittings,
handle frame, finial and escutcheon plates. I used spacers and liners of
German silver for highlights and handle scales of creamy walrus ivory,
which is multi-faceted for that fantastic feel"

"Clip-Point Dog Bone", 2001
This "Dog Bone" is made with Damascus, lots of file work and colored
walrus ivory. The tang and pommel are wrapped in the tradition of the
originals of the 1800s. The sheath is formed of German silver to closely
fit the blade and is mounted with Damascus trim.
Overall length 15" (381mm).

I hope this helps.....

Damn it, every time I see one of Hancock's pieces I fall in love with something I probably won't ever have.

I love his work!!! And, after watching him demonstrate, he makes it look so damn easy. He's a nice guy to boot.

wow, what a set of lookers. I feel like a construction worker cat calling a trio of beautiful women walking past.....
Hey ladies (or knives) where you been all my life.......Whistle Whistle
