OK, I've been giving a lot of thought to a three tool array that is reasonably compact and competent enough to cover almost any contingency for general camping. I motorcycle camp a lot, so I'm able to deal with a little more weight than would be desirable for back packing or minimalist camping, but I like to keep the load down to three good tools for the bike, because space is still a factor. Of course when I take the wife and dogs along, and camp from the truck, I can load up all kinds of stuff because I have the room; hatchets, an axe, bow saw, numerous knives, flux capacitors, kitchen sink, etc.

This is what I've come up with. I believe these will cover nearly all of my needs.

1) Heavy chopper (Condor Hudson's Bay).
2) General use knife for wood carving, food prep, etc. (Condor Bushlore).
3) Small pull saw for removing limbs and breaking down deadfall to camp fire sized pieces. (ARS 6 1/2" pruning saw).

What would you guys use in a three tool scenario? Post up some pics!!

Your Hudson Bay with that distinctive finish looks familiar. Did you happen to post a pic of it on advrider recently?

I hav a Condor Hudson Bay that lives in my trunk. I ought to get it out more...

German surplus e-tool or CS SF shovel (not only can it chop wood, it can dig the fire pit)
folding saw (currently have a Corona 10")
4"-5" bladed knife

Yes!! That's my knife! ADV has a "Show us your knife", thread and a "Bushcraft" thread. My two favorites there.

The Hudson Bay is a very substantial knife and likely has few limitations in the field, with the exception of its weight for those that need/want to pack light. I fell in love with its basic "no frills", historical look, as well as its obvious toughness.

Post up a pic of yours, Foilist!!!

Here's mine:

1) Wetterlings hatchet
2) Spyderco Bushcraft
3) Bahco folding saw

Here is a set up that will take care of just about all cutting jobs the average person will encounter from camp to kitchen.
Small, Medium and large.
