I've just completed a trio of knives, all commissions.

First up:
I was asked by a repeat customer to make a tough, everyday user with a bit of attitude. He also asked for a simple, unadorned sheath that made use of material from his father's old leather jacket. I used the leather for lining the sheath. This is what I came up with:

Wasp
Blade: 6 ¼” x 3/16” of hand forged Aldo's 1084fg. Brut de forge finished flats, spine and choil, with flat ground bevels hand sanded to 800 grit. The blade displays a very prominent quench line.

Handle: 5” of highly figured Red Maple with ebony and copper spacers, peened ¼” copper pin, and buffed Tung oil finish. The guard is polished and blued mild steel.

Sheath: Wickett and Craig 6/7 oz veg tanned leather with brown leather lining, polished natural edges, buffed Mink Oil finish and figured maple maker’s mark emblem.

Here's a few photos:

Next:
This goes to a man who builds high-end cabinetry for a living. He wanted to use some wood he had been storing for "decades". He gave me a 4' x 2' x 2" slab of some of the most variegated, unusual, and beautiful wood I've seen from which I cut these handle slabs.

Black-line Hunter
Blade: 5 ½”x 1/8” of hand forged 1084fg with rough-polished flats and flat ground bevels hand sanded to
800 grit then etched, blued and polished.

Handle: 4 ½” of figured black-line spalted Red Maple with ¼” mild steel pins, hidden lanyard loop, and
buffed Tung Oil finish. The black leather lanyard has a bead made of the same spalted maple.

Sheath: Wickett & Craig 6/7 oz veg tanned leather with a spalted maple maker’s mark emblem, polished
natural edges and a buffed Mink Oil finish.

Finally:
This knife was ordered by a man from the Whycogomah Reserve here on Cape Breton.
Red

Blade: 7" of hand forged, Aldo's 1084fg with flat ground bevels hand sanded to 800 grit then etched, blued and polished.

Handle: 5" of Figured Redwood with Rosewood liners, three mild steel pins and a Tung oil and buffed paste wax finish.

Sheath: Wickett & Craig 6/7 oz. veg tanned leather with polished natural edges and a Redwood conch.

I just now realized how crappy this photos is. I'll get a better one in a bit.

Thanks for looking. Please offer up critiques and comments.

All are nice but that Wasp is so very well conceived and executed. The blade profile is nicely matched in the bold planes and lines of the handle. Beautifully symmetrical grinds... The ebony, copper, mild steel, maple match so well and the forge finish on the blade balances the brightness of the maple...
Sheath looks great too.

Nice conch on that last sheath too..

Very, Very Nice Work BigBlue! The Wasp is excellent. Really like the lines and proportion of your work.
