I've been anxious lately. I had a few items coming my way in the mail and was still shook by the d-1 incident. two sak's, some sak accessories, and the sgian dubh from dotd 01-03-07. three packages in total. usps' tracking system was WORTHLESS. anyway, the first package (two sak's) arrived on the sixth, my sister was visiting and brought it up on her way in. the second two arrived on the seventh and were left on the steps, no signature. i found them while on my way out to visit my cousin as the usps truck drove off. good thing i left after it arrived rather than before. i picked em up and got in the car.

trasher still at large, but these made it through. on to the Rusty.

this piece was full of surprises. at first i was underwhelmed. grew on very quickly, though. bigger than i expected. more heft, too. i wasn't sure i'd like how it felt in my hand. i was wondering if maybe i should have gotten on with that leather sock sheath instead. i love the scabbard, the grip is one of the best i've ever held, the filework is awesome, and she is shiny. it won't shave like the pioneer, it's a hard workin edge. beefy little guy. now my only real complaint wouldn't even exist if i hadn't seen the pics of tedwca's R-SD. the kami mark on his is awesome. yuvraj must have been in a rush when he did mine.

let's take a closer look

EW! am i nitpicking? yeah.

here's a little pick of some more of my new goodies with some lanyards i braided last night. the black oht and duracell are old and trusty.

Congrats on the sgian dubh. I don't know why I have not picked one of these up yet (other then normally lacking the funds..). I know my R-4 has been fun to carry around, and I am willing to bet that the SD would be just as fun.

It looks like Yuvraj got in a little rush with the sun, but me thinks he took his time with the rest of the blade. :)

Those markings are the same as the ones in my fish knife picture thread.

He seems to have changed marks recently from the torch symbol to the upside down exclamation point or "i" symbol.

Also he is again using the roman initials instead of the nepalese, which they have been using on all knives, not just the villagers, recently.

one other thing. i realized how well this knife carries. i was in a packed house the whole day and night. my host, this rich surgeon, was a newly converted vegetarian who commented on the giants/eagles game that "it's not a real sport like soccer, it's like boxing and boxing should be illegal." he'd have called the cops after he woke up after fainting after seeing it.

anyway it moved from in the sleeve to the rear pocket to the front pocket, and i was moving around a lot too. sat on the carpet with the kids, played with the dog, bumped into people near the food. comfortable and no frightened sheep stampedes. that's gotta be worth somethin, right?

Nice, now I'll have to get one like this!

And since I don't find that sheat really... practical, I'll have to get a new sheath for that one too!

Bad influence :P

Is the SAK a trekker? How do you like it?

i learn somethin bout takin pictures every time i get a knife. i'm considering the olympus sp-350 but i've been spending frivolously lately and i feel really guilty about it.

i'd be happy to dispose of that defective knife for you, just send it on over and i'll make sure you never have to notice that horrible thing again.

you're a true humanitarian.

edit: seems my pics are down till morning so the host can update the server. 3AM-8AM

Do you EDC that Rusty SD? If yes could you give us some feedbacks about it? (or anyone who EDC a Rusty SD)

Great looking knife, and bro, your pics rocked!

no, cybrock, i don't edc it but i did carry it for the day i had it, which i decribed. it was pretty good tucked up the sleeve of my sweater. maybe leatherface can make me a kydex forearm sheath for it.

also, a little update, i gave her a little work on the stone, she still doesn't shave and i don't really care about that, but at least she'll kinda slice paper now. stll needs work but my sharpening skills may not be up to it.

Dude, you need to leave a major complaint with your post office. They shouldn't be leaving those insured packages without your permission. I wish my postman WOULD leave my packages... I have to go get them from the PO all the time!
