I just gave away a modified Spyderco Dragonfly so would like to replace it with something to fill a specific role. Here are the requirements. (The G-10 Dragonfly is my top choice currently).

*2-2.5" blade due to various legal restrictions.
*It doesn't need a pocket clip but if it has one that's fine, I'll probably remove it.
*It has to be one handed opening. I love spyderco holes but will try to stay open to other methods.
*Prefer to spend under $100.

Everything else is fair game such as locking, non locking, blade steel, etc.
I would love the Spyderco Cat but just can't warm up to the look of the blade shape. Superficial I know. :o

you could check out the spyderco ladybug and grasshopper, small blades and they arent that much money

Check out the CRKT m16-13z, I've had it for quite some time now and it is an all around great knife for every day use. It's been my favorite knife from the minute I got it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the blade length on that is 3.5"? I've already got a Pocket knife for EDC. This will be something smaller to drop in my pocket when in hospitals, federal buildings, etc.

Ha, yeah sorry about that, I misread the question. Well the CRKT is my EDC and I have a SOG Blink as my smaller knife. It's a very solid, strong little knife.\

I really like the Spyderco Urban but it's blade is listed at 2-9/16". I guess I could grind off 1/16".

You can't go wrong with a g-10 Dragonfly. it's my favorite little big knife that spyderco makes.

Sebenza? ;)

What about a slip joint, case, queen?

As mentioned: Kopa and Kiwi

Also, and pretty cheap at that:; the Boker Plus Subcom Titanium:

Hoopster - This would definitely be my choice. Daywalker (CLB) I think mentioned something in the forums here about the steel having an awesome heat treat. It's 440c steel that cuts like a scalpel. I think you could end up getting 2 of these and still have enough left over for a nice surf and turf dinner. ;)

Already mentioned, but I'll add on....

Spyderco Urban Leaf w/ G-10. I like the G-10 D'Fly a lot myself, but since getting the Urban, don't reach for my D'Fly anymore. I wasn't so sure I was going to like the Urban before I received it, but once in hand, WOW.... this is one really fine knife.

I like the Cat as well (and have two of them). But again, the Urban is the one I gravitate to when reaching for an EDC knife.
