1981. I was 18; too old to be in Explorers, but I really wanted to go to Philmont, so I signed up to be "Assistant Advisor." We did a 10-day backpacking itinerary, IIRC.

I'm standing in the back row, second from the left, flanked by the twins.

Edit: The last guy on the right, in the back row was legally blind. Couldn't see any more than about four feet away. He walked the whole itinerary, including the trip up Mt. Baldy and back down, stooping over slightly to see where he was walking.
 
The real Advisor is seated, third from the left. He is a West Point graduate and Army Ranger, and would be about 60 by now. The guy in the dark shirt, seated, second from left, was our assigned Philmont Ranger. At the trail head he taught us how "assume" = Ass-U-Me, and that was the first time I heard that.
