Brian awesome knife and patina. The stories that knife could tell. It was your posts when I first joined Bladeforums that made me want to develope a good patina on my user knives.Back in time almost 8 years, I guess the "mid-forties" part of that bio gives away that it has been a minute

Thank you for your continued commitment to this forum.
Be well

Thanks Mac, I'm glad you've enjoyed the posts! I suppose if truth be told, the main stories the patinas tell are about my fondness for foodBut the scratches in the patinas speak to my Woodsmanship
Take care out there man![]()
Brian, just so you know, I'm stealing this quote...

Brian this is a great venue. Perhaps a subtitle “Show off your Patina” is a possibility!
Ya know, I'm surprised that's not already a thread to be honest.
I thought I had seen that somewhere!there used to be one...photobuckets actions in 2017 have caused most of the pic links to not work though

Yes it was, then the Woodsman came along and took it's place as my larger field knife...
Since the leg injury last June, most of the time my "large field knives" are left at home. My field has been much more urban, and so my field knives have been much smallerNice. My "large field knife" has actually gotten smaller as I've come to understand my camping/ hiking needs better; I've down-sized from large/thick/heavy Busses to Lon Humphrey's Kephart and (more recently) Bridger models. With my reevaluated understanding, my appreciating of Fiddlebacks has grown tremendously. Your knives--as well as your many review threads--have helped in that regard.
And a "patina" thread would be awesome![]()

awesome picsUnderstood--and sorry to learn of your injury. Smoke an prayers for a speedy recovery. I spend a fair amount of time in urban/ suburban spaces--and sadly--they are not fixed blade friendly. In Los Angeles, you can technically open carry a small fixed blade, but it will get you all sorts of attention. And small fixies in your pocket are against the law. When I head to the mountains or high desert, however, that changes, and San Bernardino county is much more permissive of open carry of knives.
That's me at the peak of Mt. Baldy (just over 10,000 up)

My hope is that a Fiddleback Forager will join me when I head out on my coming trips. Thanks for sharing!

My pleasure--now I just have to get some Fiddlebacks in the shots! I'm heading back up Baldy later this month and am camping with my son (Cub Scout) in April. Let's see if the gods will smile on me!awesome pics
