I do like the movie Kickass but seeing the girl heroine throw her BM42 without even locking it closed makes me cringe. :barf:

Throwing an unbalanced knife accurately at a set distance is hard enough...

Seeing her throw two kitchen knifes and having them sink deeply into the bad guy makes me smile though.:p

I haven't seen the movie, but I'm sure kitchen knives would hurt if thrown at someone. Were they butcher knives or paring knives? I don't know if it would be possible to throw an unlocked balisong effectively. I've thrown locked (cheap) ones. My favorite throw for handle-heavy knives and folding knives is the underhand half rotation.

I used to do this to cheap Balisongs and somtimes they would unlatch in flight and fly off in random directions xD

Edit - PS: Kickass was a sick movie :]

I used to throw my old ccc. It of course would not stay closed on its own very well, so I would just wrap some tape around the end of the handle and it worked just fine! -Never even broke the knife, and it still flipped fine afterwards!

As for kitchen knives, that's pretty much what I learned to throw with as a kid. -First with some steak knives I snuck out of the house, then with some cleavers and large butcher knives that I bought from Goodwill for a couple bucks. :)

I don't see how an unlatched BM42 would work very well, but a latched and locked one would work just fine for throwing, especially at soft targets (like people) :p

Don't. I'm sure there's a way to throw them (I mean I've seen things from shovels to spatulas thrown) but balis just aren't built for that kind of punishment. Your pins will bend and break, your handles will probably bend, and buying excess numbers of "okay" balis to throw is just a waist of money.
