throwing knives with no spin?

is there a specific hand motion or grip needed to throw knives with no spin? ive been trying lately and cant seem to get it at all. everytime i throw my knife it ends up spinning out of control or flying way off track...

any advice guys on whats the best way to throw knives in general with no spin?

Have you checked the balance point of the knife? If so, try to limit the use of your thumb when compressing your grip.
I also try to point outward along the blade with my index finger toward my target and let my ring and pinky finger support the back end of the handle to keep it level.

If you can, check out Ralph Thorn's book on combat throwing, he has a good collection of tips and diagrams to show how to pick up the art.

If you can think of any particular things you'd like to know drop them in here, I can also get some pictures to show you a standard grip and release if you'd like to see.

Ok, yes there are certain ways of throwing a knife without spin (or with a "quarter spin" as it is sometimes called) Look up, "Ralph Thorn," he's a professional no spin thrower on youtube. If you don't like that style, try "Fedin," he's a russian knife thrower with his own style.

If those don't work out and you're still having trouble, post what's wrong! Videos help!

I don't know if there are any true "professional" throwers left in any field of knife throwing since I don't know of anybody who supports himself doing it. I would say I am a "semi professional" if I had to describe it.

But yes, I do try to answer questions when I get a chance...

I guess you grip like hammer grip that's a normal grip when you throw at 1or2 step from the target it can stick by no spin but more than 3 step the knife is trying to spin . how to ?
you can control the knife by many way

it 's the hard way to throw by no spin , but can do
first step change the angle to release the knife if you let it go at 0 degree
try 45 or more till 90 the knife can stick more than 3 step, if you want more distance it has second step
the time you release the knife try to press the handle down it will control the knife no spin, more distance more press. Let's try.

When first learning to throw No Spin. What kind of knife should I use? I have a Gil Hibben custom design series and Im not having much luck. I cant get this thing to not spin unless Im really close to the target.

try a heavier knife like a cs true flight. the weight makes it a tad easier to keep level (in my experience) and its a cheap knife so you can mess around with varying grips and techniques without having to really worry about damaging a more valuable blade.
