Throwing no spin at uphill targets - Difficulties

I have been throwing no-spin about five months. I have no problem with targets at eye level or lower. It seems that the point just falls in correctly at up to 20 feet or so. But if a target is located uphill, I seem to have a hard time getting my hand to adapt the release so that the knife hits correctly. Is this a common problem? And if so, any suggestions on technique to solve the problem?

I don't mess with no-spin that much, but I imagine you'd have to try giving it a bit less rotational force so that way the weight of the knife can carry it up into the target. Hope more experienced people can help you out!

Thanks guys,

I'll get out there today and try a much harder throw with more control and with a higher aim.

Still having problems uphill. I tried just throwing harder and higher but my control is poor. I think part comes from the fact that I have no high targets in my throwing area. I only try them when I am out in the woods walking etc. I have also noticed that my throwing rapidly goes to heck if there is anything I could possibly damage near a target that I am trying to hit. I have seen so many glances off, up and to the side that I fear knocking out glass or holing a sheet metal wall if it is within 10 yards of a target. If it passes through my mind that missing would endanger anything, I'll tend to miss badly. Guess it is a psychological thing I'm just going to have to work on. On the other hand in my own practice area with nothing I can possibly damage and any number of 10-11" knives I can hit almost 100% from just above head high to 6" off the ground from 3' to 25.' So I suspect much of this is in my mind and just have to work through it. I tried 10" spikes today to see if I could throw them uphill harder and further but the small grips made them harder to control and still missed more than 50%.

dude by the time you are a year into it youll have gone way beyond just being able to throw... the way i feel now is "point and shoot" and ive only done it for 2 yrs.. youve seen the clips of the masters doing amazing shots from way back... i can say now i operate at a 25ft for general thorn style no spin throws for medium difficulty.. this style makes you very accurate but not so precise. i can hit a general target over and over but hitting spots is still hard so give it time and youre gonna learn just like everyone how easy this style is.. good luck ninja

I got four new target rounds mounted high today. If it will rain and soften up my targets a bit I'll try some distant uphill throws. Right now a hard throw, point on just bounces off half the time. And thanks Matter22! Good to know it gets better and better. I am already amazed by what I can do with these things at 61 years old. It is a great addition to daily exercise.
