Just a quick question. Been throwing knives since I was around 14 and as with anything you do for long enough I'm branching out to different things to throw from needles( the foot+ ones not the sewing kind) and spikes to hatchets and anything else with a point. I am currently trying to make a camp knife among other things I've ground up with an edge but in the mock up part of it got an idea for a throwing spike design. I know I'm going to catch hell for this but the idea came from an anime series. I decided to do a wood mockup to see if the idea was plausible and to my surprise was able to stick it into a cardboard box when thrown like a traditional dart from about 15ft away. The basic design is half of it rounded like a normal spike and the back half square with grooves cut in it. My question is has anyone else tried to throw a spike like a dart and your results? It seems to fly more accurate being thrown like a dart as opposed to the normal overhand throw of a knife.
