Does anyone know where I could purchase some good quality throwing spikes/darts? Right now, I'm throwing cheap triangular files, because that's all I have at the moment, and the balance isn't all that great.

I've looked at all the usual knife vendors, and none of them sell anything remotely like a throwing spike (asides from the Zytel thing Cold Steel produces).

Also, throwing spikes/darts would be easier to explain in Japan than throwing knives.

I recommend these sites: throwzini.com or John Baily (Sunshine Knife Company/throwingknives.com). They sell very good spikes, and I think they can ship internationally (for extra costs). Check out their sites, lots of info on throwing knives and other pointy objects.

Check these out. I don't have any, but I've heard good things about them and they come at a great price. Throwing spikes are pretty easy to make, though, if you prefer. Any sort of solid metal tube with a little weight to it can be filed into a spike. Good luck in your search.

Hi

Actually I like what your throwing
Triangle files if you temper make good spikes

Balance isnt everything

I like stuff to be off center weight

Knifesmith

PS Bayonets can be got real cheap

where are you in japan, if you are in tokyo i can tell you some stores where you can find what you want.

how about your target? is it cardboard? if it is, just try lobbing chopsticks in there. to be had at the 100 yen store.

next best thing are the paul chen shuriken from cas iberia, 6 spikes, high quality for 75 bucks.

another thing to throw around are the throwing stars, which are quite cheap at the gift shops, for instance in asakusa (when in tokyo)

Ookami

go to the hardware store and buy some 11 inch nails and throw them from the point or cut the head off and throw them from the "handle". around here(canada) they cost 3 for $2. less than the price of a good cup of coffee:)
