throwing stars

How does weight effect the flight or "throwability" of a star? are lighter or heavier ones harder/easier to throw? is one more stable inflight than the other?

It is just like a throwing knife. More weight is better for stable flight.

I have that type of throwing star. It throws pretty well, fun to toss around, easy to stick, and inexpensive. I've never tried it without the center weight, but I like it with the center weight in place.

It was actually a gift, but the guy that gave it to me picked it up at Atlanta Cutlery. For an item this small (even if you buy a few at once) I think it's best to just go to a local knife or military surplus store and look around since shipping usually costs about the same as the throwing star itself. Since you've already spotted one in your local store, I'd say give it a shot, but expect what you pay for as well.
