How does the Tactical Grade Vietnam 'Hawk hold up to throwing? Can the handle be replaced if it breaks? How much would it cost to replace a handle?
Thanks,
--Josh

As a owner of the NG Ranger Spike Hawk. I had a strange thing happen to me when I threw it at a dead tree, which was near Batsto. I threw it perfectly, blade edge bit into the tree perfectly. Then it bounced out and Flew back to ME!!!!! If I didn't use the "Re-orienting my body 45 degrees"(That C.J.Caracci taught me), The NG Hawk would have been buried in my right leg!!!!

So what I learned from C.J.Caracci has already payed a handsome dividend!!!!;)

I still haven't figured out why it bounce out of the grove it cut.

Any Tomahawk or Axe cutting into the grain of hardwood running longways or longitudinally, runs the chance of bouncing out in our experience...

For good sticks, we cut the stumps and lay them on their side so we split the fibers latitudinally (if that's a word! :D )

WOW!!! I answered that one like a politician! :) Sorry bud.

Yes, they can be replaced...we have to do it, so the Hawk head must be sent in to our service dept. The handle replacement cost is $41.00 at this time, as every handle in machined.

If we go to an injection molding process in the future, the retail replacement cost will be reduced in accord with the production cost reduction.

Thanks for the info, Andy. Has anyone broken or loosened handles yet through throwing or other vigorous use? I realize that the Vietnam tomahawk is not designed primarily as a thrower, but if I got one, I don't think I would be able to resist :D
