Thumb nail or thumb tip?

Watching a YouTube Video from a better know reviewer. He complained that the Kershaw Blur style thumb stud didn't work well.

I noticed he was using his thumb nail and it indeed dug an cut into his nal as it did mine when i tried this.

I have always used my thumb tip skin pad to flip open a folding knife.

Which do you use to flip open knives?

Why use a thumb nail?

Thumb nail = no control.

Thumb pad = full control.

I use the skin on my thumb to open knives one-handed. But I do it in a controlled fashion, not for show. I don't really get the "flicking" thing.

I use thumb pad.
But even I can attest to the Blur stud being sharp.
I broke the corners on mine with a file and it is a million times nicer to use now.

I too found the Blur's thumb stub sharp, but in this case, thumb pad would be it.
