I'm trying to figure out how many jimping variations there are on the Sebenza in particular.
Does anyone know of a link where this has been discussed? Can't seem to locate one and I recall reading about it one time.
Thanks in advance!

Lisantica.

As you know there are some differences between the H sebenzas, P's and the current lineup, mainly due to the manufacturing process, but I dont believe there have been any significant changes between the years. It has pretty much stayed the same, much like the sebenza, experiencing minor tweaks through its lifetime.

Good question, Lisa. The only major variation that I know of was the short-lived larger jimping in the 2004ish timeframe. All the other years had basically the same jimping, with the only minor variations being that the H's and P's were done by hand (with inherent variations), and the later models that were machine cut (more uniform).

Oh yea venerable Sages of the Sebe's, please correct me if I'm wrong. It's early....

Thank you marthinus and DallasSTB, I'm going to try to compile some photos to show the differences, as I may have three of the variations. I just can't get enough of CRK factoids :D

I just checked out my May 2010 large Micarta and my recently made large Starbenza. The jimping on the Starbenza are slightly spaced more than the micarta
and has better traction. So I guess there are still some slight variations even on the more recent Sebenzas.
Also I just compared my large 21s to my large Regular and the regular might as well just leave out the jimping all together. It is noticebly very slick.

Small Sebenza- Jimping ridges are closer together and more shallow with 18 "v's" - 2007
Small Sebenza 21- Jimping is further apart and deeper but still the same style with 15 "V's" - 2011
Large Sebenza 21- Jimping is similar to the small Sebenza 21 but goes in even deeper with 17 "V's" - 2011

Mnandi w/Boxelder- Jimping is very fine and ridges are close together with 19 "v's" - 2011
Mnandi w/Lignum Vitae- Jimping has the ridges further apart and the same style with 15 "v's" - 2011
Mnandi w/Cocobolo is the same as the Boxelder - 2010

I have a small regular sebenza and a large regular sebenza. Both with wide jimping and have 8 notches on them. Stamped on the inside handles, the small reads A04 & B03 and large reads A04 on both sides. I purchased the small brand new in 2004 and picked up the large here few months back. Sorry I don't have any photos but I just checked and confirmed. Hope this helps!

I just received a large regular B04 with the larger jimping. It was quite a nice surprise. I'll post pics in a little
