The thumb stud left my 110 slim pro. I know I could send it in but would rather find an aftermarket screw on to fit in the same hole, but havn't had any luck.
Any suggestions, Thank you.

I always wanted to try a "thumb shredder" from USAknifemaker.

Please let us know what you end up getting and how you like it. The press fitted thumb stud is the only thing keeping me from buying a 112 Sport. If I know of a good replacement thumb stud in advance, I might go ahead and buy the Sport.

Aftermarket thumb studs tend to come threaded in either 2-56 or 1-72, but there are other options, particularly for larger screw sizes.

Here's a suggestion- thumb nuts (pictured below). They are available for a wide variety of screw sizes.

I installed one on a folder to provide an example (pic below). The one on that knife is threaded for a 2-56 screw and has a 1/4" diameter head, but if the hole in your blade is 3-48, 4-40, or 5-40, then you would need to go a size larger with a 5/16" diameter head.

These are available at mcmaster.com, and can be found by doing a search there for "Flanged Knurled-Head Thumb Nuts".

Anyways, just an alternative suggestion.

Another option could be an acorn nut.

The hole is smaller than 7/64 (.109) drill bit, 3/32 (.094) bit slides in but it not real tight. My #'d drill set is missing everything in between so it could be larger than .094

According to the tap drill reference chart I have- a close fit hole for a 1-72 screw is .0760. a close fit hole for a 2-56 screw is .089
So a 1-72 screw would be loose, if you used a screw on one side and thumb stud, without a shoulder, opposite.
A #3 screw dia is .099 that might fit tight.

Does anyone know what the hole size is for the benchmade bugout? There are lots of options for those on the bay and almost nothing else.
might be just as well to drill it out for that thumb stud.

I'd love it if Buck would make removeable thumbstuds for ease of sharpening on their 112 and 110 models with studs. At least on the upgraded steel offerings.
The thumbstuds on my 110 slim's and pro and 486 are at the end of the grind and don't affect my sharpening, and I use a jig to get app 35* inclusive.
