As a daily user : How long befor your thumb studs anodized coloring began to show loss of

color? or wear? The blue , if that matters?

Thanks all.

I received my Inkosi with a blue anodized thumb stud on Saturday, April 22nd and have carried it pretty much every day since. The anodizing is noticeably wearing on the top tier of the of the thumbstud. It happens quite fast if you open the knife a lot.

That's bad news... I had considered to buy a double in blue. They should make it a solid metal that stays the desired color for the life of the knife.

It goes quickly but the more you use your sebenza, the better it looks, it's no big deal. Also you can remove the blue color or just order the silver hardware

I had to go back and look at some old pics... First couple of weeks it was fine but as I opened it more and more andit got easier and I found myself usin' it more. Then I noticed the thumb lug on the driver's side was wearing away faster than the passenger side was.

To answer the OP's question, depending on use and how you carry it, a couple of weeks to start showin' wear, gone in 3-5 months if you use it everyday.

How quickly it wears does trigger some OCD tendencies. Not that I am against using my knives, just how the wear unevenly.

A lot of folks, myself included now prefer to order their CRKs with silver studs... and double lugged to boot.

I've always liked the way it wears away. Lets face it, if you're actually going to use the knife, the stud will wear progressively at a similar rate to the snail trails on the Ti and edge wear. CRK's age very well. Enjoy the wear i say.

Thanks all.

I bought mine at the start of vacation. Took me two weeks of consistent use on vacation to show visible wear on the stud.

the thing is every one , i sent my knife in for spa and was gonna order all new blue trim , knowing it was gonna wear off. just wondered how long it would last.. 1 or 2 months is not worth it . i could just use a blue sharpie and it would last as long.
Nah, i'll skip the blue. thanks again for alll the input..:D

Thumb stud trucker's tan?

I used Simichrome, similar to Flitz, to remove the blue anodizing off a thumb stud. Very easy to do.

I have removed the blue in the past, but now just let it wear naturaly. It will get to a point where it has a blue halo that will just hang around for years, but I like the look because it shows that I carry and use the knife.
Based on what you wrote, silver is probably your best option. Post some pictures when your new knife arrives!

Thanks for the pictures, Ted. I figured that mine would just stay in an ugly half blue half silver state for eternity. Good to know that it'll eventually just wear to a plain silver. The passenger side stud will probably stay nice and blue for a while, though. I'll definitely have the trucker look going then.

One of my daily users has a gold stud. The gold wears the same as the blue, but you hardly notice the change, as the colours are so similar. The transition from gold to silver is almost undetectable, and never looks janky or jarring. A great option in my books if it matches the look of the knife.

Kidcongo, Thanks for your reply. I'm looking at a S21 with gold studs. They look great with the inlay. I here about the blue studs fading and I think it's like blue jeans. They look better faded so to me all that fuss is for nothing. In all these threads I never heard mention of the gold studs.
Thanks again.
