Thumb stud on 110

I was just looking at an old thread of pics on custom 110s. I noticed that some of the 110s had thumb studs -- for OH openning I assume. This doesn't appear to be an option at the Buck Custom Store...

What's the deal with the thumb studs? Do they work well?
Thanks,
:)

Hey PlowBoy...
You can buy the One Armed Bandits (thumb studs) online from diff places.
They work great.
I wouldn't use a 110/2 w/o one.
Have four of 'em. Well, three now (gave the one on my 112 to my son when I gave him his 112 Founder for Jesus' Birthday).
Even for the 172 Tuna N' Tomato I prefer it over the thumb hole.

Thanks, Buckaholic.

I have never heard of these One Armed Bandit studs. I'll give a check.

I'm a longtime Spyderco user, but yesterday ordered a custom 110 with BG42. When looking at a thread here in the Buck area earlier today, I saw the studs.

Thanks again.
:)

By the way, thanks for the pic. Great looking knives you have there. I'm thinking about checking out the Mayos in both sizes.

:)

Yeah PlowBoy...
What Messy said.
Show us the pic when you get it!
Thanks for the kind words too :)

the clamp on one armed bandits work VERY well, but even better than that, contact a fellow here on BFC that has the username of STR, he actually drills the blade and installs a permanent thumb stud and even puts pocket clips on them, real good rates too!

I have been looking around to buy a few, even started a thread about not to long ago, found some at discount knives for like $1.40 but the shipping was $5 so I will keep looking.

Thanks for the great welcome here at the Buck forum.

MuskratMan, I'm familiar with STR...in fact had some personal correspondence with him. He does good work. I'll keep this option in mind.

And Buckaholic, if I stop buying knives I may be able to get a digital camera...if I do I'll post a pic of the custom 110 when she gets here.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome and advice. I'll try to hang around here a bit more often.
:)
