Hello all.

My small 21 has a single thumb stud. Drives me kind of nuts when I grab my knife lefty and try to open it as I often do. I know I am weird...:o

How hard is it get a double stud put on? Will CR send out parts or is this a trip to the spa?

Any info would be great.

Thanks!!!

:D

You can send it in for a double stud upgrade or you can use a differnt styled stud.
I use the studs off an old BM nini grip I had for my small regular,
I did have to doctor them to fit the Seb blade though.

I ordere my small sebenza 21 with a double thumb stud.

for me its not easy to open left handed due to the weird angle required on the other side of the handle. on the right hand side i can push the stud from the side, sort of.

from the left hand, my thumb has to press the stud from above to extend the blade. this is because of the thumb recess cut into the lock on the other side is not deep enough.

it does work though, but its certainly not 100% two-handed if you ask me.

I had a small sebenza 21 I traded away that had double thumb studs. I also found it hard to open lefty, but I think it was because of the longer pocket clip that is on the sebenzas. I took it off and it opened almost as easily as the right side. I put a smaller clip that came on the first sebenzas and it worked great also. If you want a pocket clip, look for the older shorter style and it will work great, it did for me anyways. As far as how to get a double stud, send it to CRK, I think its $35, give or take a few $$. They DO NOT send out parts. Hope this helps !!!

I routinely open my knives left handed so I think I could manage.

I still can't put it down though...I'll wait till I get another one before I send it in.:D

Thanks!

Here is a few pics of my small regular with the mini grip studs.
The studs are the same width and only very slightly taller than the original CRK ones.

Those are studs from a Benchmade Mini grip.

How did you have to doctor them Haze?

The hole in the Seb blade is to small and the studs are too big :p
I just had to spend 30 seconds on the lathe to thin the middle part of the stud down and it all went together nicely

The question is are those removable from the Mini grip or is it necessary to order some to Benchmade ?
Thanks

The mini grip studs are in two parts and unscrew using a number 6 torx bit :)

I have no idea if you can get them from BM but I dont think I would go buying a new mini grip just for the studs :p
You will need to thin out the middle bit to get those studs to fit though, they wont just go right on.

I just placed a call to BM, and they're sending me a set of thumstuds for FREE! I wasn't planning on doing this mod, but the BM rep starting asking me for my mailing info and I just went with it.

I'm glad I found this thread. I just purchased a small regular sebenza. I got extremely lucky and the price that I got it for was a steal*fist pump*. Anyway, I've been wondering about how I would get double thumb lugs installed, and it looks like I got my answer. I suppose when I send it in I'll have it touched up a bit also, might as well make it look pretty too. Thanks guys!
