1. What do you guys prefer in folders of either MB griptilian or mini grip size, the ones with thumb studs or hole in the blade..... and i mean function wise and not looks wise?
2. Most of the grips are in the 154 CM, how is this blade metal?
3. One other thing is the modified drop point versus modified sheeps foot for either EDC or even deer hunting, which do u guys prefer?
This goes for the BM Grips and mini grips specifically or other brands/models in general.

1. For me, a thumbstud is mostly a faster deployment method, while a thumbhole is a bit more comfortable.
2. In my experience it is very rust-resistant and holds a good edge, but I feel that it is not the easiest to resharpen.
3. I think either blade shape is suitable for most EDC tasks.

The size of your hand/thumb/knife, and the position of either stud or hole and the handle design of the knife all play in this.

Best advice, put your hands on some, particularly if the budget is tight to avoid getting something that isn't a comfortable fit.

If you find that either one is a fit, it's just personal choice. Some knives look nicer with a hole, some look cleaner with a stud, just personal choice.

I like drop, or something with at least some point for EDC. Opening a package or envelope is the most used chore for any knife I've owned. My life is boring, but it's the truth. A point helps a lot for this.

Also for skinning, I've always used relatively small blades and generally just one knife, so at least some point helps for getting the first poke through. I like the drop point as when doing a long 'opening' cut skinning, I like having non sharp dropped tip inside the game, keeps from snagging something unwanted as I skin with the blade facing out, knife on the inside, generally.

1) I prefer the thumbhole for comfort, ease of opening, and ease of sharpening, but I find thumbstuds to be much faster if that's of concern to you. Overall I like spyderholes over thumbstuds for most knives.
2) 154CM is good stuff...I like it so far.
3) I can't help you with that one.

1- Function wise. The hole.
2- 154cm in a really good steel. Not as good as CPM154, and many of the other newer super steels, but I have a few with it and like it just fine.
3- Drop point. I may have other blade types on me, but always keep one on me that I can skin with(esp. this time of year).

I prefer the hole. My mini-grip has the stud, and it has opened more than once when I didn't want it to because the stud got snagged on my pocket or something else.

1) I'll take either, but I prefer a thumbstud.
2) 154CM is about as good as you can get in a melt alloy. To get noticeably better edge retention, you have to use a powder metallurgy alloy.
3) I prefer a modified drop point for EDC. I would never use a sheepsfoot blade for skinning.

It's not a real concern if I like the knife but I prefer the hole if I have the option. (like on the mini-grip)

Thumb stud for me. Faster, typically better carry width, and less blade weakness.
