Thumbdisk from emerson putting holes in my jeans. Advice?

I have gone through two pairs of jeans in the last two months because the thumb disk on my emerson rubs the fabric and over time it puts a hole in my jeans. I carry my knife inside my pocket by the way. I don't feel like using a sheath or anything else because the shirts I wear sometimes will expose the sheath and I don't want raised eyebrows.
Has anyone else had this problem with other knives or a similar experience? Should I sand down the textured part of the thumb disk?
Or should I ditch the emerson and go for a chinook flat grind or another folder?
I have a cqc 12 comrade by the way. Thanks.
Notice how the thumb disk is textured and over time, it rubs the fabric and slowly puts a hole in my jeans.

i edc a '12 daily and have never had that problem, unless the disc is REALLY rough finished or something i dont know what would cause that, like i say never happened to me.

i would never swap my '12 for a chinook i'll promise ya, chinooks are ok but i very much prefer the '12.

Hey Guys..

Afterdark..

First off Welcome to the Mighty BF.com

I carried the hell out of a Emerson Commander and never had a problem with the thumbstud, or the Wave...
I have more problem with the clip destroying pants to be honest....

Where is the thumbstud wearing the hole?

In the pocket or the jean material itself ??
If it's on the inside of the pocket, why not put a little piece of iron on patch on the inside to protect the material.

Otherwise wear it like a badge of honor.

I do not know how the disk attatches to the blade on this knife but I am going to assume there is a torx screw on top of the blade ,holding the disk in place.
If you are a do it yourselfer you could take the disk off and smooth it out with varying grits of sand paper , you would remove the black while doing so but you could always paint it again.

I've had rough studs scrape my hand more when putting my hand in my pocket than ruin my jeans which pocket clips will do.

The jeans are too tight! :D

Go ahead and buff the edges of the thumbdisc where they are rubbing the jeans. I use a piece of ceramic sharpening rod for that sort of work.

Esav, exactly what I was thinking -

My jeans pockets get a lot less wear once I admitted my age and maturity. They're a lot more comfortable now and don't restrict motion any more.

Of course, now my joints do. We get too soon old and too late smart.

So are you dropping it into your pocket unclipped? It's rubbing a hole in your pocket because it sits in the same place all the time?

Take off the disk with the proper size Torx driver and sand down the rough edges.

I would just buy a Chinook myself. :)
