A simple way to clean the brass is by first striking your thumb a little over your strop with green compound and then thumbing your brass.
Works like a charm, found this out by coincidence.
Your thumb gets a little black, but who cares, at least my brass (110 or 112) is nice and shiny again.

As I always carry a Fallkniven DC3 and a little same size leather strop with green compound, I now have my brasspolisher with me. Didn't know it an hour ago. :D

Someone discovered this already, maybe ?

Math.

Yes, that will work. Heck, I've even used ashes from a camp fire or cigarette. Just moisten the thumb touch the ash and start rubbing the brass. Afterward use a cloth and wipe off the residue. Mostly, calcium carbonate. DM
