I like the knife, but I am not so sure that I like the thumbstud. Are there any alternative thumbstuds? Has anyone ever switched theirs?

Have you tried using an O-ring on your thumb stud? I use them on my ARs ambi thumb studs. They help a LOT.

An O-ring does help a LOT.

Of course, a big, fat Spydiehole would be even better. :D

I got mine from good plumbing supply store. Home Depot didn't have any anywhere near the right size.

Home depot has them. Just go to the plumming section. If I remember correctly, they are #60 O-rings. They don't cost much, and really help. Hope this helps, Reagan

Thank you for the help. Got them today and now my knife is perfect!

Hmmmm, I had to get a ten pack of them to be able to obtain them. Now what to do with the rest??? I think I will get an AR and GB for each and every one!;)

Hi everyone... newbie question.. (sorry) whats an O ring¿
I find the thumb stud to be a mite painful draw after draw... my thumb starts getting raw in the same spot
thanks in advance

O-rings are very small, rubber, donut looking things used in plumbing, etc. They only cost about $.40 a piece. You pop one into the groove on your thumb stud. It works great and lasts a long time.

Great tip on the O-rings.....the same size for the AR fit my mini BuckStrider also....a major improvement IMO.

I like these on my AR:

Could someone measure the size of their nipple (of joy that is :))?

And is the side of the thumbstud made with a different coloured material? Is it just darker metal?

My previous experience with this kind of thumbstud wasn't too great. But maybe that particular knife just had a too-small thumbstud. It hurt to use it.

Ok, all the praise this idea has received convinced me to try it. Went to Home Depot tonight. They had more O-ring sizes than one could dream about, lol. I picked up the mentioned #60 and #61 just to see and feel the difference. They were also sold individually. Each only cost me $0.17.

Since the two were only one size different, not much could be seen with them next to each other. However #60 is slighly thicker than #61. End result is very comfortable cushion when put onto the AR/GB thumbstud. #61 will also do the trick, but the ring around the thumbstud will be a little thinner and obviously just a little looser since it's one size larger.

Between the two I prefer the #60, but take what you can get. Both will get the job done. With one of these O-rings on, it's just as comfortable as a disc opener.

I second Dark Nemesis' comments re: O-Rings (Thanks Lynn)

Home Depot sells many different types and I picked up #60 and it fits just right, and also feels just right. It makes a world of difference now. Thanks to the "Strider guys" for making their designs so PERFECT. EVERY LITTLE DETAIL on their products are so well I(proactively) thought out, it amazes me just how well designed their products are.

In my experiences, few man-made items can rival Striders in execution of design. Truly advanced thinking.

Thanks Strider Guys
